70대 한인 포주가 검거됐다.
마리온 카운티 셰리프국에 따르면
사우스 피츠버그에 거주하는 올해 71살의 진 정( Jin S Chung )씨가
상습적인 매춘 알선과 돈세탁 등의 혐의로 지난 16일 체포됐다.
경찰은 지역 경찰들과 연계해
지난 2013년6월부터 정씨에 대한 함정수사를 벌여오던 중
지난2010년부터 올해1월까지 5년이 넘도록
테네시 주 내 다양한 마사지 업소와 스파 등에
윤락여성들을 공급해온 것이 드러났다고 밝혔다.
경찰은 정씨와 조직적으로
성매매 범죄에 가담해온 업주들의 뒤를 쫓고있다고 전했다.
정씨는 현재 50만 달러 보석금이 책정된 채
구치소에 수감중이다.
Marion County Man Arrested On Charges Of Money Laundering, Promoting Prostitution
NASHVILLE – A Marion County faces charges of promotion prostitution and laundering money after Rutherford County indictments and his arrest today, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
TBI agents arrested Jin S. Chung, 71, of South Pittsburg near Chattanooga today.
At the request of then-District Attorney Bill Whitesell of the 16th Judicial District that includes Rutherford and Cannon counties, TBI agents working in conjunction with agents from Homeland Security and Immigration Customs Enforcement and officers with the Murfreesboro and Smyrna Police Departments began investigating Chung in June 2013, the release stated.
During the course of the investigation, agents developed information that between March 2010 and January 2015, Chung was involved in building various massage parlors and spas across the state, including two in Rutherford County, that are suspected of promoting prostitution, official said.
The Rutherford County grand jury April 8 returned indictments charging Chung with 13 counts of money laundering, one count of conspiracy for money laundering, two counts of promoting prostitution and one count of conspiracy to promote prostitution, officials said.
Chung was transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he was booked, the release state. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
